The priests were consecrated as the medium between God and the Israelites and each ritual seems to have entailed its spiritual meaning.
(29:14) a sin offering: Through the burning of the bull, men could be saved from their sins.
火祭(29:17) a burnt offering: A ram was slaughtered and offered to God. Due to its pleasing aroma, God’s glory was thus revealed.
(29:24-26) a wave offering: Aaron and his sons could share the offering to God.
(29:28) fellowship offering: There would be regular share from the Israelites for Aaron and his sons to appreciate their contribution.
The sinned could not approach God directly. That’s why God consecrated priests. Regarding the rituals of offerings, God explained in such a detailed way to avoid discrepancies in religious beliefs. Besides, He wanted the Israelites to know how seriously He took the relationship with them.
Dear all, Peng An,
The bull was for sin offering (Ex 29:14), the priest should put their hands on its head before sacrifice, symbolizing confessing their sins would need a sacrifice to receive forgiveness from God.
The ram was for burnt offering, symbolizing their complete and total offering of their lives to serve God. The wave offering and the heave offering were provided to be enjoyed by the priest, symoblizing God's providence and care for the priests.
